Home care is flexible support designed to help older and vulnerable people live in their own home by assisting them with their daily routine or with specific medical requirements. A carer will come to a client’s home as often as required and help with tasks ranging from light housework, cooking, help washing and dressing, to continence care or assistance taking medication. They can also provide companionship and chaperone clients on trips out. Home care has the advantage of allowing an individual to live in their own home, and remain an active member of their community, surrounded by familiar faces and places. As care is scheduled only when it’s needed, it allows you or your loved one greater independence at a much lower cost than residential care.

This depends on how many visits you have each week. Quite often our clients do have the same care worker for each visit, but if you have lots of visits during a week, you may need several different care workers.
There may also be times when your care worker may be away on holiday. Rest assured that we try to keep the number of different care workers you see to a minimum.
Carers can help to administer prescribed medicines if this has been specified in you or your loved one’s care plan. If a client can manage their own medication but need help opening blister packs, for example, the carer can do this for them.
Many of Heroes Homecare’s staff are trained to NVQ level 2 or above. All our staff undertake regular training, both in-house and by external providers. This ensures that their qualifications are to date and helps us maintain our high standards.
We take client safety very seriously. All Heroes Homecare staff undergo a rigorous vetting procedure before they start working with us. Care staff will always be wearing Heroes Homecare-branded uniform and carry a personalised identification card which shows their name, photograph and signature. You can ask to see this.
We are regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). Everything we do is in accordance with CQC guidelines and best practice. The CQC inspects a selection of home care providers every year, ensuring every provider in the UK is inspected at least once every 5 years.
Our offices are normally open from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday. We also operate an out-of-hours emergency service which is staffed when the office is closed. This number will be provided to you before we begin providing your care.
